Dear Sir, Re: Your British Patent Application No. 15246/49. We mow enclose herewith a draft of the Complete Specification which we have prepared from the information which you have kindly given us. . Will you please consider the draft and return it to us with your comments at your earliest convenience. If you think it desirable to discuss the specification with us, Mr. Tomkins will be available on Friday next, lst September, Saturday, nd September, or on Monday, 4th September, bearing in mind that it is essential that the specification should be filed on or before Sth September. We have a print of the drawings which can be lodged informally, the finished drawings being filed later. Will you also please sign the enclosed Form of Authorisation to enable us to act on your behalf. With regard to the question of obtaining a Patent for your invention in U.S.A., it will now be a difficult and expensive matter to do this because under the U.S. Patent law the application for a U.S. Patent must be filed within twelve months of the earliest foreign application or else the U.S. Patent must issue first. As the period of twehve months has already gone by your U.S. Application would have to be specially treated as a "rush" case for which the U.S. Patent Attornies charge about four time normal fees.
