You wrote me on June 9th, ami again on June 22nd, and I do apologise for being so very long Knowing me as you do you will realise thet discourtesy but really being crowded out with events. Even now I can only write you briefly in response to the many excellent thing you say, but I am planning to get to Ulster as soon as I can and will meet you and talk over matters of great interest to you, including some technical matters. All you say about the Volkswagen is very interesting. We tried out a rear engine, with the engine very close up to the back axle but we found it dangerous. For your interest, both mechanically and commercially, I think I should send you, confidentially, a copy of a letter I received from Johnny O'Hagan yesterday. I do not think the steering is to blame,as Johnny suggests, but the rear engine. A.W. All you say about rolling movement is most interesting Bet it is one of those things I would like to talk over with you and will leave it for the moment. You wi be really delighted when you see our new suspension. ie have got a bit of the Fergie linkage in it so it must be good !!
