Primary archive
The William John Sands Family Archive
The principal source for this project. It includes original correspondence, photographs, engineering material, personal papers, presentation objects and other documents preserved by the Sands family. Where possible, original documents are reproduced alongside transcripts and contextual research.

This archive is an ongoing research project dedicated to preserving and documenting the life and engineering work of William John Sands. Wherever possible, historical accounts are based upon original correspondence, photographs, patents, contemporary publications and material held by recognised archives and museums. New evidence will continue to be incorporated as the archive develops.
